Leather & Suede Care Guide
Preserving full-grain hides, vegetable-tanned lambskin, and goat suede for decades of wear.

Dryness & Contoured Storage
- •Store outerwear exclusively on broad, contoured wooden hangers to preserve shoulder structure.
- •If exposed to moisture, allow the hide to air-dry naturally at ambient temperature away from radiators or heat vents.
- •Use breathable cotton garment bags for seasonal storage; avoid non-porous plastic covers.
1–2 Times Annually
- •Apply a high-grade, neutral wax-free leather balm once or twice per year to maintain hide elasticity.
- •Test any conditioner on an internal pocket lining before applying across exterior hide panels.
- •Gently buff with a clean microfiber or horsehair brush to restore natural sheen.
Suede & Napped Leather Care
Suede requires specialized handling to protect its velvety nap. Use a soft brass or rubber suede brush in unidirectional strokes to remove surface dust and restore texture.
We recommend applying a hydrophobic suede protective spray prior to first wear. Never apply liquid oil, mink balm, or cream conditioners to suede or nubuck surfaces.
Hardware & Lining Maintenance
SHAIKH & CO. outerwear uses heavy-duty solid brass and gunmetal hardware. Wipe zippers and press studs with a dry cotton swab to keep track runners smooth.
For interior silk or cupro linings, professional specialist dry cleaning is recommended. Avoid spot-washing with harsh liquid detergent.
